Measuring up to 9 metres in length and weighing as much as 9 metric tonnes, the formidable Triceratops roamed what is now North America around 68 million years ago. Recognisable by its massive skull - nearly one-third of its body length - two prominent brow horns (each up to one metre long), and large protective frill, this three-horned herbivore remains one of the most fascinating dinosaurs ever discovered.

Using its sharp, parrot-like beak, Triceratops grazed on low-growing vegetation and thrived in vast numbers. Some palaeontologists estimate it accounted for a significant proportion of large dinosaurs during its time. Fossil evidence, including healed Tyrannosaurus bite marks, suggests these powerful animals were both prey and capable defenders - adding to their legendary status.

This 1:32 scale mechanical Triceratops model recreates that strength and character in moving form. Powered by a metal spring and reduction gear system, the dinosaur walks forward with lifelike motion. Its tail sways in rhythm with its four legs, the frill bobs, and the jaws snap as it lumbers across a smooth surface.

The concealed winding key is stored between the shoulder blades and inserts into either ratchet mechanism on the underside. After 6–7 full turns of the spring, return the key, position the model, gently hold the tail, press the Start button and release. On a single winding, the Triceratops can travel approximately 90–100 cm.

With 400 precision laser-cut wooden components, this Advanced-level build offers 8+ hours of engaging assembly. No glue or special tools are required - simply follow the illustrated step-by-step instructions. Sanding and waxing the moving parts during construction will ensure smooth and reliable performance.
