Brand-specific questions are grouped below to help you quickly find the details relevant to each range.

Ugears FAQs

What age group are Ugears models suitable for?

Children can build some of the simpler Ugears mechanical models independently, while more complex models are best assembled with adult assistance.

Ugears also offers a dedicated collection for children aged 6+, designed to demonstrate how everyday mechanisms work, such as pendulums, gearboxes and other moving systems.

Do I need to cut parts out of the boards with a knife?

No. All parts are laser pre-cut and can be pressed out by hand. The pieces are held in place with small connecting tabs.

If a part feels difficult to remove and you’re concerned about breakage, you can carefully cut the connecting tab with a craft or modelling knife.

Do you have any assembly tips?

Yes. For best results:

  • When removing parts, press from the side with the thicker cut lines

  • Check gears and moving components for small burrs and lightly sand if needed

  • Wax all gears and moving parts to ensure smooth operation

  • To fit rubber bands into small openings, gently stretch them first to make them thinner.

These steps help prevent jamming and improve overall performance.

Can I paint or stain the models?

Yes, Ugears models can be painted, stained or decorated. Recommended finishes include:

– oil-based paint pens
– acrylic paint markers (fine and wide tips)
– acrylic paints
– spray paints
– wood stains

Some paints and stains may absorb into the wood and cause swelling, which can affect moving parts. Apply finishes in thin layers and allow them to dry fully between coats.

Do I need any tools or glue to assemble Ugears models?

No tools or glue are required. Everything needed for assembly is included in the box.

That said, some builders like to use their own tools. A modelling knife can help with removing parts or trimming burrs, but Ugears kits already include punch pieces and sandpaper for these tasks.

What if I need spare or replacement parts?

Ugears kits are made primarily from plywood and may also include components such as metal springs, rubber bands, marbles or other parts, depending on the model.

Extra parts are included for components used multiple times. If a unique piece breaks during assembly, you can request free replacement parts by completing our online form here. Replacement parts are prepared and shipped at no cost.

What materials are Ugears models made from?

All Ugears models are made from environmentally friendly plywood.

Mozabrick FAQs

WHAT IS MOZABRICK?

Mozabrick is a custom photo-to-pixel-art construction set that lets you turn any image into a buildable mosaic. Using small coloured bricks, you assemble a pixel-art version of your chosen photo by following personalised instructions.

One of the defining features of Mozabrick is that the same set can be dismantled and rebuilt over and over again using different images, with no additional cost.

Mozabrick is designed to be both a creative activity and a finished artwork, making it equally suited to display, gifting or shared building time with family and friends.

Mozabrick is distributed nationwide by Acton Sales Australia.

WHAT TYPE OF PHOTO WORKS BEST FOR MOZABRICK?

You can use photos from your phone, camera, social media or scanned printed photos.

For the best result:

  • Choose a high-resolution image for clearer detail
  • Portrait-style photos work particularly well
  • Images with clear contrast and visible facial features translate best into pixel art
  • Photos with fewer small or busy details generally produce a cleaner final image

Before assembling, the instruction generator will show you several pixel-art layout options so you can choose the one you prefer.

HOW DO I GET MY MOZABRICK ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS?

Each Mozabrick set includes a printed manual containing a unique 6-character code. You enter this code into the instruction generator to create your personalised build instructions, which are then emailed to you.

WHAT IS MOZABRICK MADE FROM?

All Mozabrick components are made from durable, odourless hard plastic designed for repeated assembly and dismantling.

HOW CAN I DISPLAY MY FINISHED MOZABRICK ARTWORK?

Every set includes 3M double-sided tape so your completed artwork can be mounted on a wall. The Small Mozabrick model also includes a stand, allowing the finished piece to be displayed on a flat surface such as a shelf or desk.

WHAT IF I MAKE A MISTAKE DURING ASSEMBLY?

No problem! Each set contains a dismantling tool for detaching parts. You can read how to use the dismantling tool in the manual.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ASSEMBLE A MOZABRICK SET?

Assembly time varies depending on your pace and whether you build alone or with others. As a general guide:

  • L set (76 × 76 cm): approximately 20–27 hours
  • M set (51 × 76 cm): approximately 18 hours
  • S set (51 × 51 cm): approximately 8–12 hours

Many people enjoy assembling Mozabrick as a shared project, which can reduce build time and make the process more social.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE HOW MY PHOTO LOOKS IN PIXEL-ART FORM?

The instruction generator allows you to preview how your image will appear before building. This allows you to test different photos and layouts in advance.

Because Mozabrick can be dismantled and rebuilt, you can also change your image at any time after assembly.

WHAT IF PARTS ARE MISSING OR LOST?

Each image to pixel art set includes approximately 5% extra pieces of every colour. If you do need assistance with missing pieces, contact Acton Sales, and we’ll help resolve it.

WILL MY UPLOADED PHOTO BE STORED OR SHARED ONLINE?

No. Once your assembly instructions are generated, all uploaded images and source materials are automatically deleted.

IS MOZABRICK SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?

Mozabrick can be assembled by children with adult assistance. Due to the small parts involved, children should not be left unattended. The recommended age is 14+.

I DIDN’T RECEIVE MY ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS EMAIL. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Check your junk or spam folder and confirm that the correct email address was entered. If you still can’t find the email, contact Mozabrick for assistance.

CAN I ORDER A FINISHED MOZABRICK ARTWORK INSTEAD?

No. Mozabrick is designed around the hands-on building experience, and finished artworks are not supplied.

If your question isn’t covered here, you can contact the Acton Sales team.
